The right answer is C. macrophages.

A macrophage is one type of cells of the immune system. It is part of the white blood cells.

Macrophages have three main functions:

* phagocytosis (ingestion of bacteria, yeasts, cellular debris ...). The intracellular vesicle formed is called the phagosome, which will be directed to the lysosome for its complete degradation;

* secretion activity (cytokines ...);

* cellular cooperation (it is an antigen presenting cell, relationship with the lymphocytes).

They are therefore actors of innate immune response, since they phagocytose nonspecific elements. They are attracted to the place of inflammation by chemotaxis.

MrRissso [65]

Answer: Option A.

Pure solvent diffused through a membrane but solutes do not.

Explanation:

Osmosis is process where solvents or molecules move from a region of low solute concentration to a region of high solute concentration through a semipermeable membrane which tend to balance the concentration of solutes. Osmosis is passive transport i.e it does not require energy for movement.

A second action potential cannot be generated until ________.
Bingel [31]

Answer:

"Action potential is a rapid rise and subsequent fall in voltage or membrane potential across a cellular membrane with a characteristic pattern."

It is the mode through which a neuron transports electrical signals.

Explanation:

 • Option - (a) is the best choice to choose from,
 • The refractory period :

A second action potential cannot occur until the membrane has recovered or reestablished, this is the refractory period. The absolute refractory period coincides with inactivation of voltage-gated sodium channels which makes it impossible to generate another nerve impulse.

What is the significance of the red blood cell being anucleate?
vekshin1
The red blood cell does not have a nucleus. The lack of nucleus enables the rbc to have more room to contain hemoglobin which increases it's efficiency to carrying oxygen

Maurinko [17]
It seems that you have missed the necessary options for us to answer this question so I had to look for it. Anyway, here is the answer. If one parent is homozygous for a recessive allele and one parent is heterozygous for a recessive allele in an autosomal dominant genetic disorder, the chance that a child of those two parents will have the disorder is 75%. Hope this helps.
