For example, Spain used the labor force of African as slaves and indigenous people in America to get resources such as gold and other minerals for economic development, also,  the new land represented multiple advantages in terms of resources and trade, not only in the case of Spain but in other European countries. In general terms, European countries colonized other counties as in those countries they could find resources that were not available in their countries or that were valuable such as gold or emeralds; also, they could use the land and labor of native people to improve their economies.
