We know that AB is perpendicular to CD. (that was given)

Perpendicular angles are 90 degrees because two straight lines (180) crossed make 4 90 degree angles.

180+180=360

90*4=360    See the similarities?

7x+6= 90 degrees

Subtract 6 on both sides.

7x=84

Divide both sides by 7.

x=12

"B" is the correct answer.

I hope this helps!

Please find the missing side of the triangle and round the answer to the nearest tenth. Thanks.
SashulF [63]

Answer:

39.6

Step-by-step explanation:

Given in the right angled triangle above are:

Ѳ = 49°,

Adjacent length = 26

Hypotenuse length = x

To find x in the right angled triangle given above, apply the trigonometric formula, cos Ѳ = adjacent length/hypotenuse length

Thus,

cos(49) = \frac{26}{x}

Multiply both sides by x

cos(49)*x = \frac{26}{x}*x

cos(49)*x = 26

0.6561*x = 26

Divide both sides by 0.6561 to find x

\frac{0.6561*x}{0.6561} = \frac{26}{0.6561}

x = \frac{26}{0.6561}

x = \frac{26}{0.6561}

x = 39.63

x = 39.6 (to nearest tenth)

An engineer stands 30 ft. from a building and notes a 55 degree angle of elevation to the top of the building. How high is the b
alexdok [17]
<h3>Answer:  42.8 feet</h3>

Work Shown:

h = height of the building

h is opposite the reference angle (55)

the adjacent side is 30 feet

tan(angle) = opposite/adjacent

tan(55) = h/30

h = 30*tan(55)

h = 42.84444 which is approximate

h = 42.8 feet

Explain to me in words how you would find the slope of this line and explain answer
Andrews [41]
Answer:
7/3

Explanation:
The slope of the line is equal to the rise/run, or in other words, the number of units the line travels upwards over the number of units the line travels to the right.

We can identify the slope using any two points on the line. Here, we can use the two points that are marked on the picture. The second point is 7 units above the first and 3 units to the right of the first, so the slope of the line is equal to 7/3.

Another way to calculate the slope of the line is the use this formula:

(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

The first point is at the coordinate (1,-4) and second point is at the coordinate (4,3). When we plug these two coordinates into the equation, we get this:

(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)
->(3-(-4))/(4-1)

When we simply the fraction, we would get 7/3 and that would give us the slope.

I hope this helps!
