The answer would be D) -42. The question is asking for the value of the equation when x is equal to -8. Substitute -8 into any place x appears in the previous equation and solve.
so, it would look like this: f(-8)=6(1-8)
1-8 = -7. 6(-7) = -42.

Margaret has 16 yards of fabric and she is making dresses for z doll write the expression for the length of fabric used for each
emmasim [6.3K]
<h3>The expression for the length of fabric used for each doll is \frac{16}{z}\ yards</h3>

<em><u>Solution:</u></em>

Given that,

Margaret has 16 yards of fabric

she is making dresses for z doll

Therefore,

Total length of fabric = 16 yards

Number of dresses = z dolls

Therefore,

\text{ length of fabric used for each doll } = \frac{ \text{ Total length of fabric }} {\text{ z dolls }}\\\\\text{ length of fabric used for each doll } = \frac{16}{z}\ yards

Thus, the expression for the length of fabric used for each doll is \frac{16}{z}\ yards

The school band is comprised of middle school students and high school students, but it always has the same maximum capacity. La
alexandr1967 [171]
> Last year the ratio of the number of middle school students
> to the number of high school students was 1:8.
1/9 x + 8/9 x = makeup of middle and high school students

> this year the ratio ... changed to 2:7
2/9 x + 7/9 x = x (again)

> there are 18 middle school students in the band this year
2/9 x = 18
2x = 9 * 18 → x = 81

Total = 81 in band ...
Last year:
1/9 and 8/9 = 9 and 72
This year
2/9 and 7/9 = 18 and 63

And from there you can figure out the changes:
+9 for middle school (which is increase from 1/9 to 2/9)
--9 for high school (which is decrease from 8/9 to 7/9)

I NEED HELP ASAP!!!!! A diver made this table to show the relationship between time, x, and depth, y, for his last dive.
pychu [463]

Answer:

Part A = -18

Part B = 0.5ft/sec

Part C =The diver started 18 feet below the surface and It took the diver 36 seconds to reach the surface.

Step-by-step explanation:

Here if we observe the Given function

Time(sec)   0   12   24   30   36

Depth(ft)   -18  -12   -6   -3    0

Part A

we can clearly observe from the table that at the initial value ie. at Time=0sec

the value of the function is nothing but the depth at the given time value which is -18 ft at time=0sec.

Part B

The rate of change of the given equation is \frac{Δy}{Δx}

Take any two points in the given funtion like (0 , -18) and (30 , -3)

Now the rate of change is \frac{-3-(-18)}{30-0}=\frac{1}{2}

therefore the rate of change is 0.5 ft/sec

Part C

Clearly option C is correct which is the diver started at 18 feet below the surface . because At time =0 sec the diver's depth is -18ft Here the negative sign implies that the diver is below the surface of water.

Also it took 36 seconds to reach the surface because the diver's depth is zero at Time = 36 sec (from the graph).

The diver ascended at the rate of 0.5 ft/sec.

Rachel runs 7 miles in 80 minutes. At the same rate, how many miles would she run in 64 minutes?
Kazeer [188]

Answer:

\huge\boxed{\sf 5.6 \ miles}

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Given that, </u>

Rachel runs 7 miles in 80 minutes.

80 minutes = 7 miles

Using unitary method

Divide 80 to both sides

1 minute = 7/80 miles

1 minute = 0.0875 miles

Multiply 64 to both sides

64 minutes = 0.0875 × 64 miles

64 minutes = 5.6 miles

So, Rachel will run 5.6 miles in 64 minutes.
