The United States and Russia were in competition with each other to build up the most nuclear weapons. With this, elevated aggression and threats brought the two countries closer and closer to full out war. Russia saw Cuba as a prime target to build missile sites for nuclear warheads as it was so close to Florida, the United States wouldn't have time to react to the nuclear strike.

Which best defines the term spoils system?
nadya68 [22]

Answer:

The correct answer is B) a system that allowed the winning political party to give jobs to supporters

Explanation:

A spoils system is where a winning political party or candidate gives favor to their supports by giving them key positions or jobs in the government. For, generations this was common practice in the United States.

However, things began to change in the 19th Century as the people protested and asked more for transparency.

By the mid-20th Century, there was a clear difference between politics and civil service jobs.

However, many believe the practice still remains today. A recent example was Trump giving key White House positions to supports like Brietbart co-founder Steve Bannon.

In countries like India and Bangladesh, this is still common place.

dimulka [17.4K]

Answer:

B) Criticism of racial segregation in housing.

Explanation:

The song expresses the struggles of the people in 1950s. They were discriminated on the basis of their cast and religion. There was strong racism and the people were not provided with even basic necessities. The lower race people were forced to work hard and they were no provided houses in the developed areas. They were forced to live in small tent like house which was not strong enough to tolerate rainfall and storms.
