San Francisco is very close to a fault, or a place where 2 tectonic plates meet and push against each other. When these plates shift it causes seismic activity, or strong waves of force. These waves of force are so strong that they move and shake the earth, these are called tremors, and they turn are what you feel during an earthquake. When more shakes are felt, the energy released is called an aftershock. What caused the San Francisco earthquake was the shifting of tectonic plates. I hope I helped you learn! brainliest would be much appreciated because I am trying to rank up!!

Was JFK a strong supporter of civil rights for African Americans? Why or why not?
weqwewe [10]

Answer:

JFK was not a strong supporter of civil rights for African Americans because when he became president in 1961, African Americans throughout much of the South were denied the right to vote, barred from public facilities, subjected to insults and violence, and could not expect justice from the courts. In the North, black Americans also faced discrimination in housing, employment, education, and many other areas. But the civil rights movement had made important progress, and change was on the way.
