Answer: Choice A

----------------------------------

The first term is 8 as this is the y coordinate of the point when x = 1.
The second term is 4 (since y = 4 when x = 2)
etc etc

The sequence of terms is: 8, 4, 2, 1, ...

Each time we're dividing by 2, or multiplying by 1/2. This is why r = 1/2

Put this together and we have this geometric nth term formula
an = 8*(1/2)^(n-1)

This means the answer could be A or it could be C. However, we can rule out choice C because the rate of change is not positive. Draw a line through (1,8) and (3,2) and you'll see this line has a negative slope. So the rate of change is negative.

The only answer left is choice A.

Nadya [2.5K]

Answer:

\pm \sqrt{13}

Step-by-step explanation:

\bigg(a +  \frac{1}{a}  \bigg)^{2} =  {a}^{2}   +  \frac{1}{ {a}^{2} }  + 2 \times a \times  \frac{1}{a}  \\  \\ \bigg(a +  \frac{1}{a}  \bigg)^{2} = 11 + 2 \\  \\   \bigg(a +  \frac{1}{a}  \bigg)^{2} = 13 \\  \\  \bigg(a +  \frac{1}{a}  \bigg) =  \pm \sqrt{13}

True [87]

Answer:

\frac{9x}{y^3}

Step-by-step explanation:

\frac{\left(3x^2y^4\right)^3}{3x^5y^{15}}

(3x^2y^4)^3 : 3^3x^6y^1^2

= \frac{3^3x^6y^{12}}{3x^5y^{15}}

\frac{3^{3} }{2} = 3^{2}

= \frac{3^2x^6y^{12}}{x^5y^{15}}

= \frac{x^{6} }{x^{5} } : x

= \frac{3^2xy^{12}}{y^{15}}

=  \frac{y^{12} }{y^{15} } : \frac{1}{3{y} }

= \frac{3^2x}{y^3}

3^2=9

= \frac{9x}{y^3}
