The reason why Native Americans (and any group of people, for that matter) who practiced agriculture were more likely than hunter gatherers to establish homes is because they had a surplus of food, which meant that other people who did not farm were free to establish trade and develop new skills that led to a community atmosphere.
He is considered to have more authority over the bishops, despite being chosen by them to become the Pope. He was also considered to be the only man who was able to communicate with God in Western society; during the late 70s, it was told that everyone could talk to God. As for similarities, the Pope is in the same Catholic religion, and same education/culture as the other bishops -- he is also very much more well-known to the public.
As the population of a civilization grows, it struggles to provide resources for the population. One of the easiest solution to this is to expand their territory in order to amass more money and power by taking the resources of others instead of producing their own.
Some expansions of territory lead to conflict but not always, there are countless ways to forge peace and harmony by sharing learning and the promise of stability by strong leaders.
