Answer:

Declan bought 3 books and 4 magazines

Step-by-step explanation:

Let number of books bought be x

Let number of magazines bought be y

Total number of books and magazines bought = x + y = 7

∴ x + y = 7  - - - - - (1)

x = 7 - y     - - - - - (2)

we are also told that total amount spent = $33; when price per book = $5; and price per magazine = $4.5

∴ 5(x) + 4.5(y) = 33 - - - - - - - (3)

substituting equation 2 ( x = 7 - y ) into equation 3:

5(x) + 4.5(y) = 33

= 5 (7 - y) + 4.5(y) = 33

35 - 5y + 4.5y = 33

35 -0.5y = 33

35 = 33 + 0.5y

35 - 33 = 0.5y

0.5y = 2

y = 2 ÷ 0.5 = 4

∴ y = 4

solving for x, by putting the value of y into equation 2:

x = 7 - y     - - - - (2)

x = 7 - 4 = 3

∴ x = 3

Therefore, Declan bought 3 books and 4 magazines.

Doss [256]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

First step is that you need to have the same denominators so 1/3=2/6

If she spent 1/6 on snacks and 2/6 on a book which means she spent 3/6

so the fraction of what she saved is 3/6 or 1/2

What is the measure of angle R?
Alika [10]

Answer:

m<R = 22.62°

Step-by-step explanation:

Reference angle = R

Opposite = 5 cm

Hypotenuse = 13 cm

Apply the trigonometric function SOH:

Sin R = Opp/Hyp

Sin (R) = \frac{5}{13}

R = sin^{-1}(\frac{5}{13})

R = 22.6198649°

m<R = 22.62° (nearest hundredth)

A rectangular sign must have an arae of 43 square yards. its lenght must be 2 yards more than its width. find the dimensions of
inna [77]
We know A=L•W so set 43 equal to A. Equation should look like this thus far: 43=L•W. Now when the question says more than we know that means adding. Since we don’t know the width let w=width. So know your equation should look like this: 43=2+w•(w). Knowing this equation you should be able to solve for the dimensions of the sign. If you need help on that let me know.

A city’s population is increasing at a rate of 5% each year. Which type of model describes this situation?
Basile [38]

Answer:

Exponential

Step-by-step explanation:

Ir's exponential because linear would mean it is increasing by a specific number every year, in which this case does not. Quadratic would mean a vertex form would need to be used, and with the information given , that could not happen.
