Which choice could a writer use to quote evidence supporting the statement that Edgar Allan Poe foreshadows the death of Fortuna
saw5 [17]

A choice that could a writer use to quote evidence supporting the statement that Edgar Allan Poe foreshadows the death of Fortunato is The speaker's smile toward Fortunato is fake. "... .he did not perceive that my smile now was at the thought of his immolation."

Montresor in his text gives several shreds of evidence to Fortunato as well as the audience about his motives. Montresor feign his concern towards Fortunato when he coughs violently <em>“We will go back; your health is precious”, “We will go back you will be ill, and I cannot be responsible”    </em>

To which Fortunato replies being <em>“a mere nothing”</em> and will not kill him. When Montresor replies "<em>true, true"</em> to Fortunato claiming his awareness regarding his death. Herein, Poe combines verbal irony and foreshadows the suspense through the smile of the speaker.

Read the excerpt from "The Yellow Wallpaper."
Phoenix [80]

"The Yellow Wallpaper" is short story that was written by American writer Charlotte Perkins Gilman and it was published in 1982. The main purpose of this story was to expose the way that women were viewed and treated during the 19th century, especially when it came to mental and physical health issues. Written in the first person, the story is related in a series of journal entries, in which the main character, whose name we do not learn, tells of the circumstances that surround her when her husband, John decides to move them somehwere where he thinks his wife, the narrator, will be able to be cured from what he terms: temporary nervous depression. So they move to a mansion with Jennie, John´s sister, and settle into a room that had once been a nursery with yellow wallpaper that has been badly scratched. As time passes, the narrator focuses on the wallpaper more and more, until she begins seeing the form of a woman in there. In the end, John comes home one day and after unlocking the door to the room, finds his wife crouched against it, circling it and when she sees him she tells him that she has finally been able to break free despite him and Jane. John passes out and the narrator continues circling the walls without a care. In this excerpt of the story, the narrator is: B: she feels an overwhelming responsibility to meet society´s expectations, because, through the words she uses and the expression, the narrator shows how much shame she feels that her situation, her condition, prevents her from doing what socially she should be doing, which is becoming a support for her husband.

Can somebody help me write a speech about why we shouldn't have the death penalty anymore. You don't have to write it for me!
Over [174]

Answer:Ok i will help you here are some reasons why

Explanation:The death penalty is irreversible. Absolute judgments may lead to people paying for crimes they did not commit. Texas man Cameron Todd Willingham was executed in Texas in 2004 for allegedly setting a fire that killed his three daughters. Following his execution, further evidence revealed that Willingham did not set the fire that caused their deaths. But it came too late. There is no credible evidence that the death penalty deters crime more effectively than a prison term. In fact, evidence reveals the opposite.

Since abolishing the death penalty in 1976, Canada’s murder rate has steadily declined and as of 2016 was at its lowest since 1966.The 2006 execution of Angel Nieves Diaz, by a so-called ‘humane’ lethal injection, took 34 minutes and required two doses. Doctors have said that it is likely Diaz’ death was painful.

Other brutal methods of execution used around the world include hanging, shooting and beheading. The nature of these deaths only continues to perpetuate the cycle of violence and may not alleviate the pain already suffered by the victims’ family.Executions are often undertaken in an extremely public manner, with public hangings in Iran or live broadcasts of lethal injections in the US. According to UN human rights experts, executions in public serve no legitimate purpose and only increase the cruel, inhuman and degrading nature of this punishment.

“All executions violate the right to life. Those carried out publicly are a gross affront to human dignity which cannot be tolerated,” said Hassiba Hadj Sahraoui, Amnesty International’s Deputy Director for the Middle East and North Africa. In 2017 two countries – Guinea and Mongolia – abolished the death penalty for all crimes.

Today, 106 countries (the majority of the world’s states) have turned their backs on the death penalty for good. Those that continue to execute are a tiny minority standing against a wave of opposition.

There are countless arguments for and against the death penalty. In an imperfect world where we can never be sure we have ever got the “worst of the worst” is it ever justified to take a life?
