: student council is selling tickets to the fall ball dance. Tickets cost $6.00 per person , or $10 per couple. To cover the exp

enses required, they need to make at least $1,450. Let x represent the number of individual ticket sold, and y represent the number of couple tickets sold. Write a linear inequality to model the situation

6x + 10y \geqslant 1450
This basically says that the total money made from tickets will be gretarr than or equal to $1450.

Given that (1, 0, 1) is a solution to a system of three linear equations, which of the following is true about the system?
Anna35 [415]

Answer: Choice C)

The system can only be independent and consistent

===========================================================

Explanation:

Let's go through the answer choices

 • A) This isn't possible. Either a system is consistent or inconsistent. It cannot be both at the same time. The term "inconsistent" literally means "not consistent". It's like saying a cup is empty and full at the same time. We can rule out choice A.
 • B) This is similar to choice A and we cannot have a system be both independent and dependent. Either a system is independent or dependent, but not both. Independence means that the two equations are not tied together, while dependent equations are some multiple of each other. We can rule out choice B.
 • C) We'll get back to this later
 • D) The independence/dependence status is unknown without the actual equations present. However, we know 100% that this system is not inconsistent. This is because the system has at least one solution. Inconsistent systems do not have any solutions at all (eg: parallel lines that never cross). We can rule out choice D because of this.

Going back to choice C, again we don't have enough info to determine if the system is independent or dependent, but we at least know it's consistent. Consistent systems have one or more solutions. So part of choice C can be confirmed. It being the only thing left means that it has to be the final answer.

If it were me as the teacher, I'd cross out the "independent" part of choice C and simply say the system is consistent.

If LR = 12 and LP = 7, find PR. Explain.
sergiy2304 [10]

Answer:

 PR = 5 because LP + PR = LR according to the Segment Addition Postulate, and 7 + 5 = 12 using substitution

Step-by-step explanation:

The naming of the segments suggests that point P is between L and R, so that ...

 LP + PR = LR

This corresponds to the last choice.

_____

Comments on the alternate interpretation

On the other hand, if point L is between P and R, then the segments are PL and LR. The Segment Addition Postulate would tell you that ...

 PL + LR = PR

The Reflexive Property of Congruence would tell you that PL = LP. The Substitution Property would tell you LP can be substituted into this equation, making it ...

 LP + LR = PR

and by the commutative property, ...

 LR + LP = PR.

Multiple properties of addition and congruence are involved with this interpretation, which more or less matches the third choice. That is, the simple explanation of answer choice 3, by itself, is insufficient to explain why the length of PR should be considered to be 19, not 5.

three numbers are in an arithmetic progression. Their sum is 3 and the sum of their squares is 11. what are the three numbers
Vlad [161]

The three numbers are 12, 18 and 24

Arithmetic progression

Let the 3 number in arithmetic progression be:

a-d, d, a+d ...

If their sum is 3, then;

a-d+d+a+d = 3

2a + d = 3 ........... 1

If the sum of their squares is 11, then;

(a-d)² + d² + (a+d)² = 11

a²-2ad+d²+d²+a²+2ad+d² 11

2a²+3d² = 11 ....... 2

Solving the equations simultaneously, d = 6 and a = 12

First-term = 12

second term = 18

Thirs term = 24

Hence the three numbers are 12, 18 and 24

Hope this helps you!!!!!! :D
