The maximum possible value of this number is 18.64

The minimum possible value of this decimal is 18.55

<h3>Further explanation </h3>
  • A decimal number has two digits to the right of its decimal point. if we round it to the nearest tenth, the result is 18.6 what is the maximum possible value of this number? Use words and the number line to explain your reasoning. Include the midpoint on your number line

A decimal number can be defined as a number whose whole number part and the fractional part is separated by a decimal point.

The number can't be higher than 18.64 because 18.65 is the midpoint which would round up and the number only has two digits to the right of the decimal place.

  • What is the minimum possible value of this decimal?  Use words, pictures or numbers to explain your reasoning.

The minimum value is 18.55. 18.55 is the midpoint and the lowest possible number that would still round to 18.6 and only have two digits to the right of the decimal point.

18.6?......if it is rounded to 18.6, the digit in the ones place would have to be 18.55 thru 18.59...the lowest being 18.55 and the highest being 18.59.

Reasoning : 18.59.....when rounded to the nearest tenths....u look at ur number in the tenths place, it is 5....now look at ur number to the right of it...if that number is 5 or above, u round the 5 to a 6...but if that number is 4 or below, the number would remain a 5.

Examples :
18.55 rounded to the nearest tenths = 18.6 (because the number to the right of 5 is 5, so we round up to 18.6
18.54 rounded to the nearest tenths = 18.5(because the number to the right of the 5 is 4....so we round it to 18.5

A rectangular bathroom floor is covered with square tiles that are 1 1/2 feet by 1 1/2 feet. The length of the bathroom floor is
kenny6666 [7]

Answer:

The number of square tiles required to cover the bathroom floor is approximately 31.

Step-by-step explanation:

The dimensions of the rectangular floor of the bathroom are:

Length = 10.5 ft.

Breadth = 6.5 ft.

The dimensions of the square tiles are:

Side = 1.5 ft.

The area of the rectangular floor of the bathroom is:

Area\ of Bathroom\ floor=Length\times Breadth\\=10.5\times6.5\\=68.25

The area of 1 square tile:

Area\ of\ 1\ square\ tile=(SIde)^{2}\\=(1.5)^{2}\\=2.25

The number of tiles required to cover the bathroom floor is:

Number\ of\ tiles=\frac{Area\ of\ bathroom\ floor}{Area\ of\ 1\ square\ tile} \\=\frac{68.25}{2.25}\\ =30.3333\\\approx31

Thus, the number of square tiles required to cover the bathroom floor is approximately 31.
