The cost C of printing a magazine is jointly proportional to the number of pages p in the magazine and the number of magazines p

rinted m. (Use k for the constant of proportionality.)
(a) Write an equation that expresses this joint variation.

(b) Find the constant of proportionality if the printing cost is $65,550 for 3800 copies of a 115-page magazine.

(c) How much would the printing cost be for 3500 copies of a 84-page magazine?

A.) C = kpm

b.) 65,550 = k * 115 * 3800 = 437,000k
k = 65,550/437,000 = 0.15

c.) C = 0.15 * 84 * 3500 = $44,100

Which system of equations models this problem? (Image attached)
Leno4ka [110]

Answer:

Your answer would be x+y=531 and y=2x

Step-by-step explanation:

We know that Nancy bought 531 shirts and that some are long sleeved and some are short sleeved. Since x represents the long sleeved shirts and y represents the short sleeved shirts, x+y=531. We also know that there are twice as many short sleeved shirts as long sleeved shirts. So, y=2x.

The diagram below , not drawn to scale , shows three points R , S and F on the horizontal
Katyanochek1 [597]

The question is an illustration of right-angled triangles.

  • <em>The length of RF is 49.1 m</em>
  • <em>The length of SR is 65.5 m</em>
  • <em>The elevation from S to T is 30 degrees</em>

See attachment for the sketch

<u>(a) Show that RF = 49.1</u>

Considering \triangle FTR

We have:

\tan(R) = \frac{FT}{RF} ---- tangent ratio

This gives:

\tan(27) = \frac{25}{RF}

Make RF the subject

RF = \frac{25}{\tan(27)}

RF = 49.06

Approximate

RF = 49.1

<u>(b) Calculate SR</u>

Considering \triangle FRS

We have:

SR^2 = RF^2 + FS^2 ---- Pythagoras theorem

This gives

SR^2 = 49.1^2 + 43.3^2

SR^2 = 4285.7

Take square roots

SR = 65.5

<u>(c) The elevation from S to T</u>

To do this, we make use of tangent ratio from \triangle FST

\tan(S) = \frac{FT}{FS}

\tan(S) = \frac{25}{43.3}

Take arc tan of both sides

S = \tan^{-1}(\frac{25}{43.3})

S = 30^o

Please answer the math question about the Pythagorean theorem
Keith_Richards [23]

Answer:

B) 289 C) 29 D) 7.28 (round as necessary) E)400 F) 7.81 (round as neccessary) G) 10 H) 3.31 (round as neccessary)

Step-by-step explanation:

Here is what you use to find the LONG SIDE ONLY

Pythagorean Theorem: A squared + B squared = C squared. After this, find the square root of C using a radical.
