To solve an equation, you simply reverse the operations done to the variable you're trying to solve for.

We have the equation \frac{x}{7} + 9 = 15

Currently, the x variable is being divided by 7 and added to 9.
We will need to reverse these operations to find the value of x.

And remember! Anything you do on one side of the equation, you must do on the other side.
We do this to keep the equation balanced.

Add can subtract 9 from each side of the equation.
That way on the left-hand side the 9 term will vanish.

\frac{x}{7} + 9 - 9 = 15 - 9
\frac{x}{7} = 6

Now for the final step. The x variable is being divided by 7.
What can we do to reverse that operation? In order words, what is the inverse of dividing something? Well, multiplying!

If we multiply each side by 7 we will get the value of x.

\frac{x}{7} * 7 = 6 * 7
x = 42

So, x is equal to 42.

Find the probability that a randomly selected person from this group voted for Oddems Family OR Thirteenth Night.
Masja [62]

Answer:

P(O∪T)= 0.92

Step-by-step explanation:

Hello!

<em>The theater director offered every member of the drama one vote for which play they preferred to perform. The director found that 35% voted for "The Oddems Family", that 57% voted for "Thirteenth Night" and 8% did not vote. </em>

You have three events with three associated probabilities:

O: The performer voted for Oddems Family. ⇒ P(O)= 0.35

T: The performer voted for the Thirteenth Night. ⇒ P(T)= 0.57

n: The performer did not vote. ⇒ P(N)= 0.08

<em>In this group, are the events "Oddems Family" and "Thirteenth Night" mutually exclusive? </em>

Two events are mutually exclusive when the occurrence of one of them prevents the occurrence of the other in a single repeat of the trial, i.e. these two events cannot occur at the same time.

In this case, each performer has only one vote and can decide for either one of the plays, so if he votes for one, then he'll not vote for the other one. Then we can say that the events are mutually exclusive.

<em>Find the probability that a randomly selected person from this group voted for "Oddems Family" </em><u><em>or</em></u><em> "Thirteenth Night"</em>

You need to calculate the probability of a randomly selected performer to vote for either "Oddems Family" or "Thirteenth Night", this is a union between the two events and you can symbolize it as:

P(O∪T)

Remember:

Given the events A and B, that are mutually exclusive, you can calculate the union between them as:

P(A∪B)= P(A) + P(B)

Applying this to the exercise:

P(O∪T)= P(O) + P(T)= 0.35 + 0.57 = 0.92

I hope this helps!

The chance that a positive response is obtained from Chicago fro program 1 is %. The chance that a positive response is obtained
igor_vitrenko [27]

Answer:

 The chance that positive response obtained for program 1 is 65.90

And  The chance that positive response obtained for program 2 is 87.50

Step-by-step explanation:

Given data as :

The positive response for program of different cities in percentage

Now, The positive response is obtained from Chicago for program 1 is 65.90

The total positive response for program 1 in % = 68.80

So, The chance that positive response obtained = 65.90

Again ,

The positive response is obtained from Chicago for program 2 is 87.50

The total positive response for program 1 in % = 81.70

So, The chance that positive response obtained = 87.50

Hence   The chance that positive response obtained for program 1 is 65.90

And  The chance that positive response obtained for program 2 is 87.50  answer

4x-9y=9 -x+3y=6 Rewrite one of the two equations above in the form ax + by = c, where a, b, and c are constants, so that the sum
Nat2105 [25]

Answer:

the rewritten equation

-4x+12y=24

the equation in one variable:

3y=33

the solution for the system:

y=11, x=27

Step-by-step explanation:

system of equations is:

4x-9y=9 \\-x+3y=6

If we multiply the second equation by 4, we can rewrite it like this:

4(-x+3y=6)\\-4x+12y=24

this last equation has the form ax+by=c

so now we sum this equation to the unchanged equation:

4x-9y=9\\-4x+12y=24\\--------------------\\0x  +3y=33\\

we get the equation with one variable 3y=33.

If you need to solve the whole system, we clear for y in the last equation:

y=33/3\\y=11

and using the first original equation we subtitute y to find x

4x-9(11)=9\\4x-99=9\\4x=9+99\\4x=108\\x=108/4\\x=27
