vlada-n [284]

Answer: The success of Manifest Destiny encouraged imperialists’ ambitions.

The doctrine of "Manifest Destiny" stated that the United States was destined to rule over all of North America, due to its "more developed" and "virtuous" institutions. This mission was carried out in the West. However, by the end of the nineteenth century, the West was effectively settled.

The succesful settlement of the West was seen as a sign of the truth contained in the doctrine. American imperialism then developed out of a desire to keep carrying out this mission in other territories.

How did Great Britain and France place the newly formed United States in the middle of their problems in the late 1700s?
Svetlanka [38]

The correct answer is A) They pressured the United States to take sides.

Great Britain and France were both heavily involved in colonizing the North American continent during the 17th and 18th centuries. Once France and England both had a strong foothold in North America, they made the citizens pick sides when fighting. A perfect example of this was the French and Indian War (1754-1763).

When America became independent (1776) the hope was that the US could avoid this past experience of being involved in the affairs of these two countries. However, this was not the case. Great Britain and France both got the US involved in their fighting. The US ended up having problems with both France and Great Britain as seen in the XYZ Affair, Citizen Genet Affair, etc.

Describe the journey of Magellan‘a crew to circumnavigate the world
Vesnalui [34]

Answer:

Five hundred years ago, Ferdinand Magellan began a historic journey to circumnavigate the globe. Simple, right? Not really— the explorer and his voyage are a study in contradiction. Magellan was Portuguese, but sailed on behalf of Spain. He was a formidable captain, but his crew hated him. His expedition was the first to sail around the world, but he didn’t end up circling the globe himself. His name wasn’t even Magellan.Five hundred years ago, Ferdinand Magellan began a historic journey to circumnavigate the globe. Simple, right?
