Explanation:  Zealots were the radical stream of Judaism, which was very rigid about the issue of their convictions and religion. In the concrete case, they were against any form of influx of pagan elements by Rome in the exercise of authority over the Jews. Some thirty years before the great rebellion against Rome, they rejected the teachings of Jesus Christ, which they regarded as too mild and even collaborative with the Romans. They considered that the only way to free themselves from the Roman authorities was the general armed rebellion, which resulted in Rome's fierce response in the demise of the Temple and the exodus of the Jews that lasted nearly two thousand years.
