What is the Phylogenetic species concept

Biology
1 answer:
Jet001 [13]3 years ago
3 0
The concept of a species as an irreducible group whose members are descended from a common ancestor and who all possess a combination of certain defining, or derived, trait. Instead of trying to determine the reproductive boundaries of populations, scientists using the phylogenetic species concept attempt to uncover their genealogical relationships. A group of individuals that includes all the descendants of one common ancestor, leaving no descendants out, is called a monophyletic group.

Hope this helps!! ;))

Kruka [31]

Researchers selected candidate genes by identifying homozygous tracts shared by all three siblings along with the parental phenotype, this type of study is applied for the inheritance of recessive genes. Since the recessive genes can not be expressed in heterozygous genotype, the back tracking of carriers and homozygous recessive individual will help understand its inheritance pattern. The inheritance of dyt2 can be autosomal recessive. It is usually passed on to progeny of two carriers.

What causes the patterns of convection cycles in the lithosphere?<br> DETAIL ( 2 SENTENCES )
Dahasolnce [82]
Oceanic lithosphere consists mainly of mafic crust and ultramafic mantle (peridotite) and is denser than continental lithosphere, for which the mantle is associated with crust made of felsic rocks. Oceanic lithosphere thickens as it ages and moves away from the mid-ocean ridge. This thickening occurs by conductive cooling, which converts hot asthenosphere into lithospheric mantle and causes the oceanic lithosphere to become increasingly thick and dense with age. In fact, oceanic lithosphere is a thermal boundary layer for the convection[9] in the mantle. The thickness of the mantle part of the oceanic lithosphere can be approximated as a thermal boundary layer that thickens as the square root of time.
