Chamberlain and Hitler had met during the Munich Conference which allowed Hitler a free hand in the Sudetenland in exchange for no more territorial expansion. Chamberlain had convinced himself that Hitler finally settled for peace through negotiations and brought, "peace in our time." Shortly after, Hitler had invaded the rest of Czechoslovakia.
