Food likes and dislikes vary according to one’s culture.

Answer:

TRUE

Explanation:

The culinary diversity, with all its gastronomic options, marks the daily life and the urban landscape of the great centers. This is due to cultural globalization.

Food and meals represent complex systems whose codes must also be learned as a foreign language. It is not just about mastering techniques, such as using chopsticks, but also knowing when and how to eat what. Restaurant owners, as well as waiters and waitresses from a run-down establishment, often need to do translation work in order to bring customers closer to the rules and directions of a particular cuisine. As a sensory experience, strongly marked by taste and smell, food makes it possible, on the one hand, to contact the other in a nonverbal way. On the other hand, it makes room for a conversation about one's own experience. However, just the mere consumption of food says little about one's posture.

Read the passage from Olaudah Equiano’s autobiography.
solmaris [256]

Answer: It is describing the dreadful voyage of a group of enslaved Africans on a slave ship—more specifically the so-called middle passage voyage.

Explanation: Just to elaborate a little on the answer, it can be added that this is an excerpt from Olaudah Equiano's bestseller autobiography (1789). He was a former enslaved African who was eventually able to buy his freedom and become a seaman and a merchant. In this passage he is relating the horrors he experienced and witnessed during the so-called middle passage voyage across the Atlantic Ocean to the New World. He describes the unbereable voyage aboard an overcrowded ship, the unhealthy conditions, the diseases and the deaths, as well as the screams and the groans of those that, like him, were obliged to leave their homes and work as slaves.
