The framers of the constitution stated the processes involved in amending the constitutions.

The First Method

The constitution can be amended by the two-third majority of each house of congress (both the senate and House of Representatives) and ratified by the legislatures in three-fourths of the state.

The second method

The constitution can be amended if two-third of the state legislature vote to calls for it. In this case, the congress must call for a full constitutional convention.

Further Explanation

There are processes involve in the amendment of the constitution. Since the original constitution was approved in 1788, thousands of amendments that have been discussed.  However, since 1789, the US constitution has been amended 27 times.

Ordinarily, the framers of the constitution clearly knew the amendment of the document is imminent and they sought for a better way to have the constitution amended. The processes outlined by the framers of the constitution in case of amendment were a successful one because they were able to achieve their aim.

The purpose of amending the constitution is to improve, correct or revise the entire document.

The first 10 amendments was the bill of right and were ratified in 1791. The bill of right protects the freedom of the American people. The bill of right also limits the power of the national government

The most recent amendment, the 27th amendment, was ratified in May 1992 and these prevent the members of congress from increasing their salaries and benefits.

How did La Raza use resistance to live up to our idea of freedom, equality, and democracy?
rjkz [21]
After demanding both political and military action on removing Native American Indians from the southern states of America in 1829, President Andrew Jackson signed this into law on May 28, 1830. Although it only gave the right to negotiate for their withdrawal from areas to the east of the Mississippi river and that relocation was supposed to be voluntary, all of the pressure was there to make this all but inevitable. All the tribal leaders agreed after Jackson’s landslide election victory in 1832.

It is generally acknowledged that this act spelled the end of Indian Rights to live in those states under their own traditional laws. They were forced to assimilate and concede to US law or leave their homelands. The Indian Nations themselves were force to move and ended up in Oklahoma.

The five major tribes affected were the Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Creek, and Seminole. These were called The Civilised Tribes that had already taken on a degree of integration into a more modern westernised culture, such as developing written language and learning to read and write.

It overturned the more concessionary attitude of ex-President George Washington that aimed for ‘acculturation’ after debate with the Indian Nations. Even in those distant times, there was heated debate in congress with such famous names as the future president Abraham Lincoln and Davy Crockett speaking out against it. Now it is considered with serious negativity by all involved.
