Different species of fruit flies occupy each of the islands in the Hawaiian island chain, a group of volcanic islands that forme

d one after the other. One hypothesis for how the different fruit fly species formed is that, after each new island was formed, fruit flies from existing islands colonized it and subsequently diverged. If this hypothesis is correct, it would be an example of:allopatric speciation by dispersal.sympatric speciation by dispersal.sympatric speciation by vicariance.peripatric speciation by vicariance.allopatric speciation by vicariance.

Answer:

allopatric speciation by dispersal

Explanation:

Allopatric speciation is a form of speciation (creation of new species) that occurs as a result of geographic isolation. This means that a part of population becomes physically separated from the initial main population. There is no gene flow between these two populations and as a result the two populations reach a high level of genetic divergence. They can no longer interbreed which means they become two different species (speciation).

One of the factors that contribute to the allopatric speciation is dispersal.

New populations evolve as result of mutation, genetic drift and natural selection.

1. Measure the mass of an empty container 2. pour the desired liquid in to this container and wait for it to settle. 3. measure the mass of the container + liquid 4. subtract the empty container mass to find the liquid's mass Note: some scales have a tare feature (it defines a weight of zero), which you measure the container's mass, use the tare option, and then pour the liquid and wait for it to settle. Also, when you use a scale, in truth you measure weight. It then divides by the known gravity field to find a "weight" in kilograms, which we accept to equal the mass in kilograms. You only truly measure mass when using a balance. It compares the torque on the balance arm of the object's weight to the torque on the balance arm of a slide-able weight. A balance will record the same mass in any gravitational field.

In humans, six fingers (f) is the dominant trait; five fingers (f) is the recessive trait. if the father is heterozygous for six
rodikova [14]

The probability of the offspring of a heterozygous father and homzygous mother having five fingers is 50%.

How to calculate genotype of a cross?

According to this question, a gene coding for the number of fingers in humans is involved. The allele for six fingers (F) is the dominant trait while the allele for five fingers (f) is the recessive trait.

If a cross between a heterozygous father that posseses a genotype of Ff and a homzygous mother that posseses a genotype of ff, the following offsprings will be produced:

 • Ff
 • Ff
 • ff
 • ff

This shows that the probability of the offspring of a heterozygous father and homzygous mother having five fingers is ½ (50%).

Bobby touches his newborn brother's palm, and his little brother takes hold of Bobby's finger and will not let go. This is known
VARVARA [1.3K]

Answer: conditioned

Bobby touches his newborn brother's palm, and his little brother takes hold of Bobby's finger and will not let go. This is known as the conditioned reflex.

Explanation:

A conditioned reflex is a response or behaviour learned after birth. So, once the newborn acquires this learned response, they can perform them even without thinking about it.

Thus, Bobby's brother (the newborn) holding on to his finger and not letting go shows that it is a conditioned reflex
