It is important to be logical so that you do not end with an impossible conclusion/solution/answer, but you must be creative so that you can think of different ways to try things to get the result you need/ a new result.

Hope this helps!

Explanation:

A scientist needs to both creative and logical. Logic is what science is, it is proving something right or wrong according to strict principals of validity. These strict principals are what be called laws of science. A creative scientist and come up with new and unique ideas of the worldly problems. He can create a solution to a problem which is logically correct.  This why i think a a scientist needs to logical as well as creative.

Which step in the PCR program would you have to change if your fragment would have been 10 times longer and how?
bekas [8.4K]

Answer:

increasing extension time

Explanation:

The Polymerase Chain Reaction is a technique widely used in molecular biology laboratories to amplify target DNA regions. The standard steps of a PCR are as follow 1-denaturation, 2-annealing and 3-elongation/extension. These steps are repeated 15-40 times in order to exponentially amplify the linear DNA fragment. It is well known that longer extension times can be used as a strategy to increase the yield of longer PCR products. This is because the extension time depends on the synthesis rate of the DNA polymerase used in PCR technique and the length of the DNA fragment to be amplified.

Describe how The Carbon Cycle works.
shutvik [7]

Carbon cycle refers to an array of procedures by which the compounds of carbon are interconverted in the environment, comprising the inclusion of carbon dioxide into living tissue by the process of photosynthesis and then getting back into the atmosphere via respiration, the burning of fossil fuels, and the decomposition of dead organisms.

The following are the steps that illustrate how the carbon cycle functions:

1. Carbon enters the atmosphere as carbon dioxide from combustion and respiration.

2. The absorption of carbon dioxide takes place by the producers to manufacture glucose in photosynthesis.

3. The animals feed on the plant passing the carbon components through the food chain. The majority of the consumed carbon is exhaled in the form of CO2, which was produced at the time of aerobic respiration. The plants and animals die eventually.

4. The dead plants and animals get dissociated by the dead organisms and return the carbon present in their bodies back to the atmosphere as CO2 by the process of respiration. In certain occasions, the dead plant and animals get converted into fossil fuel, which is available in future for combustion.

Explain in details the agency problem
bezimeni [28]

Agency problem

Agency problem also known as agency costs occurs in a two-party relationship (principal/agent) where the agent is expected to act or make decisions for the good of the principal.

For example in a corporate the relationship between the management and shareholders. The management is expected to make decisions that will maximize shareholders interest. The problem arises when the two parties have different interests. In the example above the manager may opt to make his own wealth and not act in the company’s best interest which could be maximizing company’s market value.

Examples of agency relationship in finance

Managers/stockholders

Managers/Creditors

Causes of conflicts between managers and stockholders may include;

Remuneration - low remunerations or fixed salaries despite increased profit margins.

Differences in risk profile- stockholders may prefer high-risk return investments contrary to the managers. When high-risk investment go bad the manager risks job loss

Manipulation of accounting systems- to reflect high profits.

Unnecessary perks management award themselves.

Solution to these problems include threat for firing in case of poor performance, shareholders may also threaten to sell the company, remuneration based on performance, incurring agency costs-these are costs incurred while hiring external auditors, setting a control system, legal costs for employment letters and contracts.

Agency problem may be reduced by motivating the manager to act for the companies best interest by offering incentives

Crossing over prevents homologous chromosomes from separating during meiosis i. true or false?
Scilla [17]

Crossing over does not prevent homologous chromosomes from separating during meiosis, hence, the statement is false.

CROSSING OVER:

  • Crossing over is the process whereby non-sister chromatids of homologous chromosomes exchange their genetic materials.

  • Crossing over occurs specifically during the prophase I stage of meiosis I. Via this process, genetic diversity is likely to occur in the daughter cells.

  • Crossing over only assures that genes of homologous chromosomes are recombined, it does not stop them from separating in the Anaphase stage.

  • Therefore, crossing over does not prevent homologous chromosomes from separating during meiosis, hence, the statement is false.
