In order to solve this problem, we need to use the factor and remainder theorem. Suppose we have a quadratic equation of Q(x) and a binomial x-a=0, where a is a constant such that x=a. When you substitute x=a to the quadratic equation, you use the answer as basis. Whatever the answer is, is the remainder. If the answer is zero, that means that x=a is a factor.

In this case, we substitute x=3 to the quadratic equation and equate to zero to find k.

Q(x) = x²+kx-6
Q(3) = 3²+k(3)-6 = 0
k = -1

The value of k is -1.

Answer:

y = 85°

z = 35°

x = 60°

Step-by-step explanation:

y) 180 - 120 = 60, therefore:

180 - (35 + 60)

=> <u>y = 85</u>

z)

=> <u>z = 35</u>

x)

180 - (35 + 85)

=> <u>x = 60</u>

Hope this helps!

Last week Anna received a pay check for $442.50. She noticed in the check stub that $47.30 of the money she earned had been with
Troyanec [42]

Answer:

Percentage of Taxes = 10.689 %

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that

Total earning of Anna is $442.50

The amount which is held with Taxes = $47.30

Now in terms of percentage

percentage of taxes from her total earning = \frac{47.30}{442.50} times 100

So % taxes = ( 0.106892) × 100

∴       Taxes percentage = 10.689 %

Write the equation of the parabola in vertex form.
stellarik [79]

well, looking at the picture of this vertically opening parabola, it has a vertex at 0,0 and it passes through 2,1 hmm ok

~~~~~~\textit{vertical parabola vertex form} \\\\ y=a(x- h)^2+ k\qquad \begin{cases} \stackrel{vertex}{(h,k)}\\\\ \stackrel{"a"~is~negative}{op ens~\cap}\qquad \stackrel{"a"~is~positive}{op ens~\cup} \end{cases} \\\\[-0.35em] \rule{34em}{0.25pt}\\\\ y = a(x-0)^2+0\qquad \stackrel{\textit{we also know that}}{x=2\qquad y = 1}\qquad \implies 1=a(2-0)^2+0 \\\\\\ 1=4a\implies \cfrac{1}{4}=a~\hspace{10em} \boxed{y=\cfrac{1}{4}x^2}
