Even functions (like this one) are symmetric to the y-axis. So even if you reflect it over the y-axis it will look the same :)

The property there is:

f(x) = f(-x).

The value of the function at x values is the same as the value of the function of -x values.

Fred takes 3 hours to dig a garden. It takes Jason 5 hours to
Irina18 [472]
It takes them 1 7/8 hrs to complete the job together.

How:
Fred = 3 hrs
Jason = 5 hrs

1/3x + 1/5x = 1/x

3x x 5x = 15 —> 3x/15 + 5x/15 = 15/15

3x + 5x = 8x —> 8x/15 = 1.875 = 1 7/8 hrs

The legs of a right triangle are lengths x and x square root 3. The cosine of the smallest angle of the triangle is _____.
ICE Princess25 [194]
AC=x, BC=x√3, AB is a hypotenuse (look at the pic below)
x√3>x, consequently ∠B<∠A and we have to find cosB, which is (x√3)/AB.
<em>Let's find AB:</em>
AB=√(x²+(x√3)²)=√(x²+3x²)=√(4x²)=2x
<em>Thus, cosB is:</em>
cosB=(x√3)/(2x)=√3/2
