The English belived taking cover was for cowards, this ended in there defeat in many battles. The war ultimately ended on sept 3 1783 when French allies and US troops surrounded English troopers and general lord Cornwallis. Cornwallis surrendered his sword and the war was over, America had independence. The war lasted from April 19 1775 - sept 3 1783.
