Explanation:

An endospore can be define as the dormant state in bacteria. It is the tough non-reproductive state acquired by the bacteria under unfavorable environmental condition. It occurs when the bacteria experiences nutrient deficiency. It usually takes place in gram-negative bacteria.

It allows the bacteria for remain dormant for extended periods of time. When the conditions for survival becomes favorable the bacteria again acquires the vegetative state. This condition helps the bacteria to survive in unfavorable conditions.
