Biology

Well the definition in an actual dictionary or scientific book is quite confusing, so to put it simply:
A chromosome is a DNA molecule with part or all of the genetic material of an organism.

If that makes any sense.
That’s really as simple as I know it.
Chromosomes are complex, so a simple definition doesn’t come easy.
Happy to help!

What is the best description foro mechanical waves
Nataly [62]
It's basically a wave that moves back and forth at regular speed through matter. because of that it transfers energy through a medium (matter). however the movement of the wave is limited because of this but it can still move over long distances. so because of this these types of waves don't move far from their original point or Equilibrium position. in short think of throwing a pebble into water and seeing the little ripples from it, that's a mechanical wave.

Why is it that every axon in an adult mammal has a target cell (muscle cell or other neuron) with which it makes synaptic contac
elena-s [515]

Answer:

It is because the axons that fail to find a target cell die thats why every axon in an adult mammal has a target cell (muscle cell or other neuron) with which it makes synaptic contact.

Explanation:

Synapse is basically a structure in the nervous system responsible for the passage of the electrical and the chemical signals from one neuron to another neuron or an effector cell.

Usually the axon is the presynaptic part of the synapse and the postsynaptic part is usually present on the body of the neuron or a dendrite or an effector cell like a muscle cell.

If the axon doesn't make a synaptic contact with the target cell , the axon will die because the neurotransmitters and the chemical mediators will not be released and no action will result on the postsynaptic membrane.
