Americans globally (except for a small number) were not interested in going to European battlefields, so Wilson did not want to risk possible re-election as president. The United States also made a lot of money during the war because it sold weapons; the president did not want to jeopardize the country's inflow of money. Thus, political, economic, and moral reasons are why Wilson did not want to include the country in the war.
