1. A mean old man ate a large meal at a restaurant. The waitress tried to provide him with excellent service, but every time she

brought him a dish, he complained. First he thought that the soup was too cold when it was hot. Then he said that his steak was dry and chewy, when it was moist and succulent. Then he complained that one of her blonde hairs was in his mashed potatoes, but the hair was actually grey like his own. She remained patient and continued to try to help him until the end of the meal, when he left her a quarter for a tip. She replied on his way out, “Thank you for the generous tip, Mister.”

Verbal irony is the use of words to mean something different from what a person actually says. Verbal irony is used here because the man gave her a tip that was not generous but she replied that it was. Hence what she said meant the opposite of what she meant. The above is an example of verbal irony.

Write a 6-8 sentence paragraph over mama from the story Everyday Use by Alice Walker
Nataly_w [17]

Answer:Emely, I think that in the middle of the story, it slightly describes that they lived in a house before, the one that they actually lived. From my inference in the story, looks like Maggie suffered some burns from that and it is why Maggie is a bit underestimated in comparison with her sister Dee. It is why the mother always describes Dee as the most beautiful. Also Maggie makes Dee remember that past and Dee does not like it. It is why they do not get that much along each other

Which relates to personification
yKpoI14uk [10]

Hello there! :D Personification is giving non-living things the abilities like humans. For example the sun eat ice cream. Sun can't eat ice cream lol XD so it is considered personification. Also another example is the rain made costumes for a party! Rain can't make costumes lol XD but it would be pretty cool if rain made costumes! ;)

Hope I helped! :D ;) Have a nice day! :3
