Henry the 8th, had a lot of wives because none of them would bear him a son, or an heir to the throne. Queen's were allowed to inherit the throne, but he wasn't about to let that happen. Thus King Henry was like, whatevs I'm the king, and made his own church, The Anglican Church. He also made it the official church of England. That's the reason why he split from the Catholic Church.
