The gunpowder and especially firearms, changed the warfare in Japan during the Sengoku era which lasted <span>from 1467 to 1603 after which the period of the Tokugawa Shogunate began. </span>The first warlord to use then extensively was Oda Nobunaga who ordered 500 matchlocks for his armies. The firearms represented a huge tactical advantage.

It was a law that attempted to curb the smuggling of sugar and molasses in the colonies by reducing the previous tax rate and enforcing the collection of duties. In other words, a law passed by the British Parliament in 1764 raising duties on foreign refined sugar imported by the colonies so as to give British sugar growers in the West Indies a monopoly on the colonial market.
