A dead body was found within a closed room of a house where the temperature was a constant 65° F. At the time of discovery the c

ore temperature of the body was determined to be 85° F. One hour later a second measurement showed that the core temperature of the body was 80° F. Assume that the time of death corresponds to t = 0 and that the core temperature at that time was 98.6° F. Determine how many hours elapsed before the body was found.

Answer:

1 hr 52 minutes

Step-by-step explanation:

As per Newton law of cooling we have

T(t) = T_s +(T_0-T_s)e^{-kt}

where T0 is the initial temperature of the body

Ts = temperature of surrounding

t = time lapsed

k = constant

Using this we find that T0 = 98.6 : Ts= 65

Let x hours be lapsed before the body was found.

Then we have

T(x) = 65 +(98.6-65)e^{-kx} = 85\\e^{-kx}=\frac{20}{33.8} =0.5917

Next after 1 hour temperature was 80

T(x+1) = 65+33.6(e^{-k(x+1)}=80\\e^{-k(x+1) =0.4464

Dividing we get

e^k = 1.325408\\k = 0.2817

Substitute this in

e^{-kx} =0.5917\\x=\frac{ln 0.5917}{-k} \\=1.863

approximately 1 hour 52 minutes have lapsed.

What equation relates the number of quarters x and the number of quarters x and the number of dime y to the goal of $10
Dimas [21]
.25x+.10y=$10

.25 because that is the value of the quarter, times x the number or quarters you have and .10 because that is the value of the dime times y, the number of dimes you have.

Give complete answers that show all steps! :)
nasty-shy [4]

Answer:

Rise: 200.25

Descent 300.2

Minutes

Step-by-step explanation:

A)        We are using the Pythagorean theorem for the climb and descent. (a^2 + b^2 = c^2)

For climb a = 200, b = 10 c = ?

200^2 + 10^2 = c^2 = 40000 + 100 = c^2 = 40100 = c^2

c = about 200.25

For the descent: a = 300, b = 10

300²+10² = c²

90000 + 100 = c²

90100 = c²

c = about 300.2

B) If a plane is going 600 km/h and it goes about 10 km that means the plane is only going for 10/600 of an hour.

10/600 is 1/60, so only a couple minutes difference.

A cylinder has a height of 13 centimeters and a radius of 4 centimeters. What is its volume? Use ≈ 3.14 and round your answer
Roman55 [17]

Answer:

Volume of a cylinder = 653.12 cm³

Step-by-step explanation:

Volume of a cylinder = πr²h

Where,

Height, h = 13 cm

Radius, r = 4 cm

π = 3.14

Volume of a cylinder = πr²h

= 3.14 × (4cm)² × 13 cm

= 3.14 × 16 cm² × 13 cm

= 653.12 cm³

Volume of a cylinder = 653.12 cm³

f(x)=x^2-12x+20\\\\\text{The zeros:}\\\\f(x)=0\to x^2-12x+20=0\\\\x^2-10x-2x+20=0\\\\x(x-10)-2(x-10)=0\\\\(x-10)(x-2)=0\iff x-10=0\ \vee\ x-2=0\\\\\boxed{x=10\ \vee\ x=2}
