Credentialistic meritocracy refers to the practice of basing an individual's success and status in society on their earned crendentials or individual talents and capabilities.  

Universalism to a large extent is reflected in credentialistic meritocracy as we observe today's world and even in the past. Individuals with rare and outstanding abilities and talents are more likely to succeed and this is seen everywhere in the world regardless of culture,religion or type of government. For instance individuals with good leadership skills always stand out and are more likely to lead likewise individuals with good business skills are more likely to be business moguls.
