When you have a bracket around any number, you need to turn that number into the greatest integer less than or equal to that number. Which means if don't have an integer, round it down to nearest integer.

Ex. [3]=3     [4.87]=4      [8.24]=8

The two straight lines make its inside positive.

Ex. |3.14|=3.14         |-4|=4             |-7/3|=7/3

a store is having a sale on chocolate chips and walnuts. for 3 pounds of chocolate chips and 5 pounds of walnuts the total cost
Delvig [45]
If you set you the equations such as 3c+5w=23 and 6c+2w=20 and then solve the first equation for c, you get c= (23-5w)/3 Taking that equation and substituting it for 'c' in the second equation (so the second equation becomes: 6((23-5w)/3)+2w=20  ) you get w=3.25 If you plug that back into your first equation (so it now becomes: 3c+5(3.25)=23 ) you get c=2.25 So the answer would be walnuts cost $3.25 per lb and choc. chips cost $2.25 per lb.

A city has a population of 220,000 people. Suppose that each year the population grows by 7.25%. What will the population be aft
Archy [21]

Answer:

427,350

Step-by-step explanation:

so you do 7.25×13=94.25

and then you do 94.25%×220,000=207,350

So you can now do 207,250+220,000 (which) =427,350

4kg of cheese costs £10.80 how much would 3kg cost
lana66690 [7]

Answer:

£8.10

Step-by-step explanation:

Divide £10.80 by 4 to find the cost of 1 Kg, then multiply this by 3

£10.80 ÷ 4 = £2.70 ← cost of 1 Kg , then

cost of 3 Kg = 3 × £2.70 = £8.10

3=3(x-5)-3(x-6) what is the answer to this linear equation
lyudmila [28]

Answer:

x=0

Step-by-step explanation:

3=3(x-5)-3(x-6)

3=3x-15-3x+18

3+15-18=3x-3x

18-18=0x

0=0x

x=0

The graph shown below expresses a radical function that can be written in the form f(x)= a(x + k)^1/n +C. What does the graph te
MAXImum [283]

Answer:

  C.  <em>c</em> is less than zero

Step-by-step explanation:

The parent radical function y=x^(1/n) has its point of inflection at the origin. The graph shows that point of inflection has been translated left and down.

<h3>Function transformation</h3>

The transformation of the parent function y=x^(1/n) into the function ...

  f(x) = a(x +k)^(1/n) +c

represents the following transformations:

  • vertical scaling by a factor of 'a'
  • left shift by k units
  • up shift by c units

<h3>Application</h3>

The location of the inflection point at (-3, -4) indicates it has been shifted left 3 units, and down 4 units. In the transformed function equation, this means ...

  • k = 3
  • c = -4

The graph says the value of c is less than zero.

__

<em>Additional comment</em>

Apparently, the value of 'a' is 2, and the value of n is 3. The equation of the graph seems to be ...

  f(x) = 2(x +3)^(1/3) -4
