A major result of the emancipation proclamation was that all slaves in the United States and Southern states were technically set free. This came near the end of the Civil War when it became clearer the North was going to win.

One of the Major goals of the proclamation of emancipation is to get the eradication of slavery a national goal in order to reunite all the country in just one nation, not a divided nation as it was during slavery. And some European countries supported this idea, so the Confederacy lost acceptance from Europe countries.
