Why did members of the 3rd estate dislike the king and queen?
Lemur [1.5K]
Members of the 3rd Estate in France had all sorts of reasons to dislike the king and queen -- King Louis XVI and Queen Marie Antoinette -- in the days leading up to the French Revolution.  Let me count the ways (well, a few of them):
1. Louis XVI was not a kingly figure.  He preferred to be out in the woods hunting or at a workbench taking apart a clock than doing the tasks of royal government.  He wasn't the sort of person to inspire the confidence of the people in him.
2. Marie Antoinette was an Austrian princess, and the French people despised the Austrians. France and Austria had been enemies for years, and this attempt to bring the two countries together through a marriage wasn't popular with the people.
3. Louis and Marie had sex problems.  You'd think that would be a private matter, but when you're the king and queen it's your job to produce an heir to the throne, and they weren't managing to do that.
4. Both Louis and Marie spent way too much money -- money that came from the taxpayers (the members of the 3rd Estate).  Louis spent it on the lavish palace life of Versailles and on wars.  (His government had given a huge loan to the Americans to help them fight vs. Britain.)  Marie spent money on frills and dresses and jewelry and whatnot.
5. They didn't seem to know the people's situation or care about them much. They didn't want to be bothered with concerns about the poor people of France.

I could keep counting more ways, but that's enough for now!

Explaining the Manhattan Project
zloy xaker [14]

Answer:

to prevent other nations from building bombs

to avoid spies learning of the work

Explanation:

The purpose of the Manhattan Project was to develop the atomic bomb. It was a secret government project started in 1942 in response to the activities of Nazi Germany. America feared the Nazi Germany experiment and weapons in World War II. The project was kept secret as the United States did not want other nations especially, Germans to get their hands in nuclear weapons. The project became successful when the American military conducted a test in 1945 in New Mexico.

1. Why was there no revolution in England?
Ivan

Explanation:

1. English peasants failed to carry out a “true revolution” because they were peasants, not because they were English (or incipiently British). The most radical elements in later bourgeois revolutions (such as the French Revolution, or the Europeanrevolutions of 1848) likewise went down to defeat.

2. On 30th March 1856, the Crimean War was formally brought to an end with the signing of the Treaty of Paris. This formal recognition signed at the Congress of Paris came after Russia accepted a humiliating defeat against the alliance of Britain, France, the Ottoman Empire and Sardinia.

3. The Working class consisted of unskilled laborers who worked inbrutal and unsanitary conditions. They did not have access to clean water and food, education for their children, or proper clothing. It is common that men were influenced by aspects such a domesticity, economy, gender roles, imperialism, manners, religion and sporting competition. Men in the Victorian Era were expected to be gentlemen. They were meant to provide for their families, as well as the protector. Women were expected to behave and be submissive. For both common men and women, family was the most important.

4. The middle class grew in diversity, and accumulated most of the wealth, and they were all so different that at the time one could barely even give a detailed definition of middle class. Their strong and growing work force strengthened the english economy, and for their hard work they received the most benefit.

5. The period of Queen Victoria's reign, from 1837 until her death in 1901 was marked by sweeping progress and ingenuity. It was the time of the world's first Industrial Revolution, political reform and social change, Charles Dickens and Charles Darwin, a railway boom and the first telephone and telegraph.
