Let's simplify the inequality:

7-2/3x<x-8

first we add 8 to each side:
15-2/3x<x

Now we add 2/3x to each side:
15<1 2/3x or 15<5/3x

Divide each side by 5/3 so the right side becomes x
9<x

Now you flip it:
x>9

therefore the answer is 1.

Hope this helps :)

The rules are similar to those for equations
first add 2/3 x to both sides
7 < x + 2/3 x - 8
add 8 to both sides
15 < 5/3 x
inverting we get
5/3 x > 15
now divide both sides by 5/3
x >  15 / 5/3 = 15 * 3/5 =  9

x > 9

Answer:

Books should be kept in second box.

Step-by-step explanation:

If the sum of all  the weight of all books is between 4 and 6 pounds then it should be kept in first box

If the sum of all  the weight of all books is between 5 and 7 pounds then it should be kept in second box

If the sum of all  the weight of all books is between 8 and 9 pounds then it should be kept in first box .

Here sum of the weighs of all the  books = 3.1lb+2.4lb +0.75lb

                                                                     = 6.25 lb

Here we can see that 6.25 lb lies between 5 and 7  which is the weigh limit

for the second box

therefore we can keep the books in second  box.
