You are correct, it would be a reflection across the y-axis. I am great at visualizing but for those who are not (Not saying you) all they have to do is cut out a parallelogram and mimic the movements.

Answer:

Correct answer is D

Step-by-step explanation:

Parallelogram EFGH has been reflected across the x-axis to form the parallelogram ABCD. The reflection across the x-axis has a rule:

(x,y)→(x,-y).

Then parallelogram ABCD has been rotated 180° around the origin to form the parallelogram IJKL. This transformation has a rule:

(x,y)→(-x,-y).

Both these transformation together have a rule:

(x,y)→(x,-y)→(-x,y)

i.e.

(x,y)→(-x,y).

If you have to return the parallelogram to it's original position, then point (-x,y) should turn in point (x,y). So you have to apply the rule:

(x,y)→(-x,y)

that is reflection across the y-axis (see attached diagram for illustration).

What is the terminal point of the vector a = (2,4) based at P = (3, 4)?
Verdich [7]

Answer: (5, 8)

Explanation:

Start at the point (3,4) which is the tail of the vector. We move 2 units to the right and 4 units up to arrive at (5,8) due to the vector a = <2,4>. Effectively, we're using the translation rule (x,y) \to (x+2,y+4)

In other words, we add 2 to the x coordinate and add 4 to the y coordinate of the point (3,4) to move to (5,8)

Step-by-step explanation:

This is a repetitive decimal number . It can be converted to a rational number:

.020202, * 100 = 2.0202...

.020202 * 1 = 0 0202....

Subtract

0.020202 * 99 = 2
