An example of how functionalism encourages status quo is the topic of gender inequality. In functionalism, women being a support to men makes the society function without any problem since everyone knows their function in society. It is implied that society is working properly while using the given hierarchy, therefore, this hierarchy shouldn’t be changed. This example shows support of the status quo.

Deb's role in the group is the "devil's advocate".
The devil's advocacy decision making basic leadership strategy is the place the gathering is permitted to wind up the fault finder in the proposed choice. This method anticipates mindless obedience and expands the shot of a brilliant choice.
The greatest quality to utilizing the devil's advocate technique is the capacity to avert oblivious obedience, which is the place individuals endeavor to wipe out conflict and concede to a choice despite the fact that it won't not be the best option.

Disposophobia or Compulsive Hoarding. Those who suffer from this condition have a problem discarding any item that they might have in the house or office even when they know that it is of no use. They usually have the opinion that it will be used in the future thus it is best if it sticks around. Peter fits the diagnosis as he is compelled by the need to save things regardless of their value.
