Answer:

The total golf balls Jack has now in terms of expression is as below

a = 3b + 6

Where a is total number of balls and b is number of balls in each bag.

Step-by-step explanation:

Solution:

let a be the total number of balls and b is the number of balls in each bag.

Number of bags is 3.

So total number of balls before the friend gave is 3\times b

Now the friend has given him 6 more golf balls then the total number of balls will become 3b + 6.

Therefore, the required expression is

a = 3b + 6

Answer:

You should buy a 12-pack of 12 oz cans for $4.75 rather than seven 20 oz bottles that are on sale for $0.90 because seven 20 oz bottles that are on sale for $0.90 cost $6.30 all together which means  a 12-pack of 12 oz cans for $4.75 is cheaper than seven 20 oz bottles that are on sale for $0.90.

Can the formula F=ma be a direct variation equation? If so, which variable would have to be held constant?
ANEK [815]
Yes it can be a direct variation.  it follows the form y = kx
The only variable that cannot be held constant is F, but we can hold the mass constant and vary the acceleration OR we can hold the acceleration constant and vary the mass.  Either one would work, but the easiest would be to vary the mass and hold the acceleration constant since we are all pulled by the same action gravity
