Boudica was the queen of the Iceni, a Celtic tribe located in what is now eastern England. She is remembered for having led a revolt against the Romans in 60 AD. The revolt was a response to the abuses of the Romans.
A more contemporary example would be that of the Gaza border protests. These rebellions share several characteristics withe Boudica's rebellions. In this case, the Palestinian people are conquered and abused in their own land by a foreign power, Israel. This is similar to the way Celtic people were abused and conquered in their own land by the Romans. Moreover, the Palestinian struggle also features some important female leaders, such as Hanan Daoud Mikhael Ashrawi.
