Plea Bargain refers to a legal tactic in which the defendant will plead guilty in exchange of lesser/smaller punishment. Usually this tactic was made when the police department want to catch a bigger criminal than the defendant.
For example, let's say that the police arrested a low level drug dealer.
The police could offer a plea bargain by offering the low level drug dealer a chance to obtain lesser punishment . But in return, that low level drug dealer has to leak the information about his boss/upper ups.
