Truly modern newspapers owe their existence to the invention of movable type and the printing press which were invented by <span>Johann Gutenberg in 1447. This allowed for the mass production of printed material, be that material books or newspapers or some other form, which enabled the spread of knowledge and the exchange of ideas on massive scale.  </span>
