Ratios that are equivalent to each other are considered equivalent ratios. For example, 2:6 is equal to 6:18

Think of equivalent ratios as equivalent fractions, or fractions that are equal to each other.

An example of an equivalent ratio would be
1:2(or 1/2) = 2:4(or 2/4).

These two ratios are exactly the same, though they may not look anywhere near the same.

One way we could determine if two ratios are equivalent or similar, is by dividing the bigger side by the smaller side ( in our example, that would be 2/1 = 2), then divide the other side of the ratio by the same side ( 4/2 = 2 )

Since they are both equal to 2, we can say that they are the same, or equivalent.

I know this is a lot of information, but I hope this helped!

how can an expression written in either radical form or rational exponent form be rewritten to equivalent forms?
miss Akunina [59]
You can rewrite radical form expressions by putting the expression to the power of 1/n, n depending on the radical. For example: sqrt2 = 2^(1/2) or cuberoot4= 4^(1/3). Vice versa with rational exponent equations: 5^(1/2) = sqrt5 or 3^4/3 = cuberoot3^4

Suppose that the cost of a rental car is $65 for a week plus 0.15 per mile driven.
IceJOKER [234]

You have the following equation for the cost of renting a car for x number of miles driven:

y = 0.15x + 65

If you travel 70 miles, then, x = 70 and you obtain for the cost y:

y = 0.15(70) + 65

y = 10.5 + 65

y = 75.5

Hence, the cost of renting a car to drive 70 miles is $75.5
