Spinal cord,  brain

"our reflexes such as pulling your hand away from a flame, are governed by the spinal cord, while basic functions of motor skills and respiration are governed by the brain."

The spinal cord and the brain are components of the central nervous system that receives information, integrates the information, and controls the activities of every parts of the body. The spinal cord functions as a minor reflex center by coordinating sensory information from the peripheral nervous system to the brain. The brain receives sensory information from the spinal cord and processes it by initiating the proper and coordinated motor outputs (skills).

Hello, our reflexes are governed by the spinal cord since these actions happen quickly thus needing to bypass the brain. The other functions, meanwhile, are controlled by the brain itself, with motor skills and involuntary functions such as respiration being controlled by different parts of the brain.
