Boston was a hub of Patriots and the American rebels, which, in the years before the Massacre, led to building tension between the British and Americans in Boston. Loyalists would be harassed, and were often driven out of the city. The Massacre was kind of a final straw for a lot of Bostonians.

Why was the Haitian rebellion significant (and frightening to some) when it happened?
Vikki [24]

Haitian rebellion was a revolt consisting of 10,000 slaves approximately against the tyrannical rule of France that lasted long 15 years, it concluded in 1789. It was significant and frightening to some because the Haitians defeated Napoleon Bonaparte's army and abolished slavery, becoming the only nation in the world established as a result of a slave revolt and the first Latin American country to successfully rebel against France rule.

France and other European powers feared that the black people's determination and success would serve as an example for others slaves and people under their dominion and tyrannical rule to rebel as well.

That made the south a wealthy place and made the economy of USA flourish in the south. The other reason the Slavery was so popular was as servants who would be in the house and serve food for guests. Another example is that they used to baby sit the child that cannot be left alone. Overall slavery was a belief that the White man was superior thus to the black man or as they called the black people back then a Negro. Slavery was later made illegal by Abraham Lincoln shortly after the American Civil War in 1861.
