A function will not have any repeating x values...it can have repeating y values, just not the x ones. Plus, a function will pass the vertical line test.

1st graph....not a function
2nd graph ..thats a function
3rd graph...not a function
4th graph....thats a function

Answer: The graph (1) and (3) are not the graph of a function and only figure (2) and (4) shows the graph of a function.

Explanation:

A graph represents a graph of a function if the graph specifies the vertical line test.

Vertical line test states that the graph intersect each vertical line not more than one time. If the graph intersects any vertical line more that one time then it is not a graph of a function.

In figure (1) When we draw a vertical line on x = -3, then the curve intersects the line two times, therefore it is not a graph of a function.

In figure (3) When we draw a vertical line on x = 1, then the curve intersects the line two times, therefore it is not a graph of a function.

In figure (2) and (4) the curve and line will intersects all vertical line only one time, therefore figure (2) and (4) shows the graph of a function.

if you drop a tennis ball from the height of 100in and the rebound is 58in what is the height on the 10th bounce?
xenn [34]

Answer:

0.431 inches

Step-by-step explanation:

We were given the following values:

Height the tennis ball was dropped = 100in

Rebound height = 58in

We have to find the rebound ratio

= 58in/100in = 0.58

The formula to be used

Height on nth bounce = Initial height × (Rebound ratio)ⁿ

Where n = number of bounce

Height on the 10th bounce = 100 × (0.58)^10

Height on the 10th bounce = 0.4308042069inches

Approximately, the height on the 10th bounce = 0.431 inches.

Select the correct answer. Given the following formula, solve for a. A. B. C. D. <br> s=a+b+C/2
nexus9112 [7]

Hey there!

The answer to your question is a = s - b - C/2

<u>To solve for "a", we must get "a" on it's own side of the equal sign.</u> We can first subtract "s" from both sides:

<em>0 = a + b + C/2 - s</em>

Then, we can subtract a from both sides:

<em>-a = b + C/2 - s</em>

Finally, we divide both sides by -1, so a is by itself.

<em>a = -b - C/2 + s</em>

And we can rearrange it to the standard form:

a = s - b - C/2

Good luck, and hope it helped! Have a great day!
