to solve this system I first multiplied the second equation by 2 to make the x coefficient equal. then I subtracted equation two from equation one. this eleminated the x. solving for y gave me y=0. then I put 0 back in the original equation and that gave me x=-4.

The cost for renting a truck for one day is $19.95 and has a rate of$0.50 per mile. Write a function rule to model the cost of r
jeyben [28]

The cost of renting a truck for one day is $19.95 and has a rate of $0.50 per mile.

We can write a function rule to model the cost of renting a truck for one day.

y=0.50x+19.95

Where x is the number of miles and y is the corresponding cost of renting.

Now we can find the cost of renting for traveling 73 miles.

Substitute x = 73 into the function.

\begin{gathered} y=0.50(73)+19.95 \\ y=36.5+19.95 \\ y=\$56.45 \end{gathered}

Therefore, the cost of renting the truck for one day and 73 miles will be $56.45

Two sisters decide to take a series of acting lessons. One decides to pay a flat rate of $75, shown as f(x). The other just want
Mandarinka [93]
The answer is f(x) = 75, g(x) = 5x, h(x) = 5x + 75

Let x be the number of lessons.

The <u>flat rate of $75</u> as function f(x) can be expressed as: f(x) = <u>75</u>
<u>$5.00 per lesson x</u> as function g(x) can be expressed as: g(x) = <u>5x
</u>
The combination of two functions (f(x) and g(x)) is the amount the parent should pay:
h(x) = g(x) + f(x)
h(x) = 5x + 75

Are constant functions periodic? The reason I ask this is because a function is periodic if it has a period but in a constant fu
sladkih [1.3K]

Answer:

A function f:R→R is periodic if there exists some number t>0 such that

f(x)=f(x+t)

A constant function is periodic since you can take t=1,t=2, etc. (Hint: Hover over the tag "periodic-functions". What do you see?)

The fundamental period of f is the smallest of such t's. Since t cannot be 0, you are looking for the minimum of (0,∞), which does not exist.

Brandon is thinking of a number that is divisible by 6 and 8 . What is the smallest number that Brandon could think of
a_sh-v [17]

since

6 = 2 * 3 <--- two factors

8 = 2 * 2 * 2 <--- three factors

and since the "2" is there on each, then we can just use that instance of it once.

so instead of using 2 * 3 * 2 * 2 * 2, we'll use 2 * 3 * 2 * 2, and that is our LCD.

2 * 3 * 2 * 2 = 24.
