(I think it is A, but lets look at it together! :) )

A. The United States demonstrated strong support for Israel.  

This is highly possible. What if a major nations just allied with your greatest enemy? They are now your enemy. By supporting Israel with weapons and money it makes it harder to wins wars for the Islamist.

B. Some of their leaders adopted Western styles and culture.

This might make them less angry. How can you encourage your men to fight an enemy if you are doing the same thing as your enemy?

C. Westerners profited from Middle Eastern natural resources.  

They did, but so did the Middle Eastern countries. Everyone profits from oil, the seller and the buyer.

D. Westerners placed unfair tariffs on their exports.

They only tend to do this when the militant Islamist's do something to harm civilians or their own citizens. This is a possible option, but I do believe the answer is A.
