4t + 0.50b = 20
b = 2t

4t + 0.50(2t) = 20
4t + t = 20
5t = 20
t = 20/5
t = 4

b = 2t
b = 2(4)
b = 8

so there were 4 tubes of paint and 8 brushes purchased for 20 bucks
